Shop Recommendation!

Well, I've written enough about myself lately, so I thought I'd share a shop that I totally love:  Scripture Art by Amylee Weeks.  I'm not even sure how I ran across this shop, but I am loving it!  She makes really cute, fun, colorful artwork which incorporates Christian words and scripture.  A beautiful way to display your faith!  She has art prints in a variety of common sizes, framed art, and (my favorite) wood blocks featuring her designs.  Here are some of my favorites:

My first find - Fruits of the Spirit wood block.
Another favorite - Love Never Fails print.
Sweet and simple - Be Still and Know print.

I think her prices are really reasonable and she even makes custom designs with any verse of your choosing - I'm thinking baptisms, confirmations, weddings... or just a favorite verse that you'd like to display. Check it out!

T-shirt redo!

I tried out another pin today!  I had an oversized t-shirt that I won playing bar trivia, but I never wore it because it was way too big.  I had looked up a few other ways to re-size a t-shirt, but this one looked the easiest (and cute!).  Turns out... it WAS easy.  And cute!  I changed the tutorial a little bit - a used a ribbon instead of a strip of the t-shirt for the neckline and I took in the sides a bit.  Here's the link to the original tutorial: Tee to Tank: A Tutorial by Jen from Upcycled Education

And here are a few before and after pictures:
BEFORE: Too-big t-shirt!

AFTER: Awesome fitted halter-style shirt!

Pair it with a matching tank top for a more modest look...

...or with a hoodie for a cool day like today.
Thinking about what other t-shirts I can do this with...
Also and FYI, I have a ONE-DAY SALE coming up in my Etsy shop this Sunday, April 22nd.  Just enter coupon code "UpcycleEarthDay" to get 10% off your entire order!  Yippee!!

Book Cover Chandelier!

I was so excited to complete this project!  I saw a book cover chandelier at Anthropologie several years ago and have been dreaming about making one ever since!  Several months ago, I did a google search and found a tutorial!  I immediately pinned it and finally got around to working on it last weekend.  (Okay, truth be told, I finally convinced my boyfriend to help me with it last weekend.)  Here's the link to the original tutorial:
Anthropologie Book Chandelier

And here are a few pictures of mine:
Erik busy working on the frame.  I wanted to do it differently than the tutorial so I could hang the book covers straight from the wire rather than from cardboard or wood.  However, this became quite a difficult project...

What's going on here??

I decided to focus on my book covers... pretty greens!

Blue and yellow - love!

The best picture I have of the completed project!  It's not quite straight here and doesn't have a light yet, but I love it!!

Scrabble Love!

I've been a little obsessed with scouring thrift shops for old Scrabble games to upcycle into projects, such as this "Mom" magnet.  I'm also saving up to make Scrabble Christmas ornaments this fall!  I was sorting the tiles from a game I recently bought and had to laugh at the huge number of Es and other vowels compared to all the other letters.  I might have to set up an Etsy listing to get rid of the excess tiles.

Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog!  As I'm getting started with my Etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop/SweetSomeday), I decided to start a blog to go along with my shop, as well as follow my life in general - random thoughts, crafty ideas and projects, and whatever else comes to mind.  Please stick around!
